As some of you may have seen, my boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary not too long ago. We knew we wanted to get away, but it was really up in the air if it would really happen or not. With our busy schedules, him working 9 hour days + 1-2 hours at the gym, and me working all day.. it didn’t seam feasible at the time. But, he made it happen being the amazing guy he is.
After searching and searching, we found this incredible Airbnb located just outside of where we live- in Malibu, California. Conveniently and appropriately named- the Malibu Dream Airstream. And let me tell you, those views were an absolute DREAM.
Knowing it would be a struggle to get to the top of this hill, we actually didn’t realize it would be THAT bad. Rolling up in Nick’s smokin’ hot black Nissan Sentra, we made the trek from Westlake Village, California to Malibu. About a 45 min drive to the location of our dreams. Knowing that the airstream didn’t have much power, we brought all of our own food, and stopped at Neptune’s Net on the way up to grab dinner. (This is an absolute MUST when going to the airstream.) So after picking up clam chowder bread bowl, Nick’s favorite protein(chicken), and a taco for me- we made our way up. Writing this, actually makes me giggle because of how ‘scared shitless’ we actually were. Even Nick was trying to keep his cool while pretending everything was okay … for my sake. Going about 5 MPH on straight gravel perpendicular to the mountain, with the side of the hill 3 feet away from you.. we were wondering what the hell we got ourselves into.
Thirty minutes later or maybe an hour, and way past our scheduled time to arrive.. we made it. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to get out of that car. I mean, I thought I was going to die if we are being completely frank here. So, we both hopped out of the car and made our way to the airstream, and it was seriously better than all of the photos online (maybe not better than the Taylor Swift photos in her perfectly steamed dresses… yes she has been to the airstream…) but pretty damn close. Within almost 5 minutes of being there, Nick’s shirt was off, a beer was cracked open, champagne popped(for me!) and the camera was out. A pretty typical day in the life of Nick- always showing off those guns. You will also notice the bag of Boom Chicka Pop sitting inside the airstream… a staple in our diet for the past 3 months.
After getting settled, taking some photos and eating our dinner we just marveled at the fact that we get the chance to stay here. Thinking back 4 years earlier, or even just a year ago- we couldn’t imagine spending this kind of money on a one night stay. But, when it came down to it and we were up there just sitting- it really felt “meant to be”. The views, the company, and where we were in life- allowed us to feel nothing but grateful.
Really wishing that champagne bottle wasn’t in EVERY picture… ugh!!!! I’m not a photographer.. so gimme a break!
And as the sun was setting, we drank some cocktails, ate some cheese, and talked with the amazing scenery surrounding us with 360 views. With not a single cell phone tower in sight, we shut off from the world completely and danced, watched movies, and slept the night away.
Party on, Garth!
Although the night of our dreams ended so quickly, this memory will be with the two us for a lifetime. (cheesy.. but oh so true.)
If anyone has any questions about our stay, please feel free to email or comment. 🙂
